Mindful Parenting

  • To the best of our ability, live without expectation, anticipation or regret. Learn to be present in the moment. There is a mystery to behold right now.
  • Accept what is happening now for what it is. Be honest and non-judgemental in this moment - don't deny reality or expect things to be different than they are. A Buddhist saying is, "Don't push the river."
  • Make a conscious and considered decision to take whatever action or non-action seems best in this very moment.
  • Let go of this moment because a new one is already here. Move away from spending too much time in hindsight. It detracts from being aware of the Now.
  • Surrender the Ego. Our desires to be seen and honored can get in the way of being able to teach and to listen.
  • Enjoy life's ironies. A famous Zen saying is, "Life is one continuous mistake."
  • Pay attention to inner guidance. The way comes from within and is only found in stillness.
